Grossly Morphed Organism

USA Today recently published an article (5/19/2016) titled 'GMO's May Be Safe But Skeptics Say Otherwise' and cited a 2-year study that "...concluded genetically modified crops do not adversely affect human health." The crops themselves may not, but what about when those crops become part of the food on our plate? Considering the fact that Big Government, Big Bio-Technology and Big Pharma are all in bed with Monsanto, the largest producer of genetically-engineered seeds, would you expect them to conclude otherwise? I would love to see a study revealing how many of those bedfellows actually choose to consume GMO products themselves. What did surprise me was the survey conducted by the NPD (Neilson Polling) in 2013, which found that most people have no idea what GMOs are. Yet, even without knowing, people express fear over what is being put into their food and wonder why the FDA isn't protecting us. Are you kidding me?! Take the time to do some research and it won't be hard to understand why. I suggest starting with a documentary called 'Food, Inc.'

I think there is a rationale behind what's happening in the commercial food industry but after you hear it, you may think I am just having a paranoid conspiratorial doomsday theory. I believe the orgy mates referred to above are waging a large-scale lab experiment on the general public with a slant towards population control that favors the powerful, upper-crust and most educated. Considering the segment of the population that is most affected by this experiment-the poor, who can't afford high-quality, organic foods, and the uneducated, who don't understand what's happening-this becomes a tool for also targeting what many consider easy prey and a drain on a productive society: think of government-sponsored programs these people tend to use, paid for by our hard-earned tax dollars.

I meet a lot of seemingly intelligent people, the same ones that ask me what I eat to get in the shape I'm in, and of course-I refer them to my recipe section. I also see the disconnect on their faces over and over when I mention that the recipes are vegetarian and I'm frequently asked "Why?" with such disdain that you'd think I just confessed to being an axe murderer. It's because I can't tolerate the cruel, toxic and resource-depleting practices of the commercial meat industry, and I care about my health though it's getting harder and harder to eat clean. I then suggest a few expose documentaries for their own personal enlightenment and that is typically answered with "Oh, I don't want to know!" Whether you choose to eat meat or not, you owe it to yourself to be informed. How could you not want to know what's happening to the food you put in your body? This is just what the industry is hoping for! With states rushing to push through AG-GAG laws that will prevent the information from becoming public knowledge, this says it all, doesn't it? Are you choosing ignorance over being informed because you might feel compelled to give up foods you like-simply because they taste good? That is thoughtless, selfish and so spoiled. And just what the rest of the world has come to expect from Americans. After all, more than 60 countries around the globe have either substantial restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. But of course, America has chosen to opt out of GMO restrictions.

If you would like to do some research, the following are just a few documentaries that moved me, but keep this in mind: a lot of the information you'll see and hear had to be filmed without the consent or knowledge of those being filmed:
Forks Over Knives
Frankensteer
Cowspiracy
The Earthlings-narrated by Joaquin Phoenix
As for GMOs, let me leave you with a few facts from http://www.nongmoproject.org/. I hope you will feel obliged to do further research. This is a serious subject and though you may not want to know more right now, how would you feel if your right to know was taken away? That move is already in the process and if it becomes a reality, there will be no going back. The slow poison mentioned above will become the norm.
GMOs-genetically modified organisms-are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. It is a relatively new science and it creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacteria and viral genes that DO NOT occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.
The majority of Americans want to know if food contains GMOs (So how is it that we aren't part of the non-GMO experiment? Who opted us out? Starting to see a bit of reality in the doomsday theory I mentioned above?) yet mandatory labeling is still not a requirement. For this, we have the powerful Biotech lobby to thank.
Virtually all GMOs are designed to withstand direct application of herbicides and/or to produce an insecticide. While the Biotech industry promised increased crop yield, drought tolerance and enhanced nutrition, none of the GMOs on the market currently offer these benefits.
There is a list of traits GMOs do come with, and these include substantial evidence of related health risks, environmental damage and violation of farmers' and consumers' rights.
As much as 80% of PROCESSED food contains GMOs. For a current list of GMO risk crops, visit: http://www.nongmoproject.org/find-non-gmo/search-participating-products/
